- My collecting interest began in just the past year when I realized that I had received a high grade watch as a gift years ago (IWC cal 852 with movement from 1954, case from 1956) which was kept in a drawer from the mid '70's until last July! I received the watch as an 18 year old in 1967, and don't know where it was between 1957(when, according to the extract which I ordered, it was purchased by Diethelm-Keller, a major distributor of watches and jewelery in Zurich) and the point when I received it.. I had it cleaned and serviced and it runs flawlessly for a 55 year old watch. . Anyway, this sparked my interest to a level that has been called(by my wife) obsessive.
